Humidity reading not accurate. Bad sensor?

Basic nest. Humidity reads 9% high. Replacement reads 6-8% high and new alkaline batteries only lasted 10 days.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

It appears that you have the Nest Thermostat 2020 model that might not have connected to Wi-Fi for more than 50 days since it was a replacement device.

To isolate:

When was the last time your thermostat connected to Wi-Fi?
Is your thermostat on software version 1.0–6?

Let's try these steps:

Connect your thermostat to the Google Home app and ensure that it's connected to your Wi-Fi network.
Once the thermostat is connected back to the Wi-Fi, software updates should happen automatically as they are done over the air.
To check the software version. On your actual thermostat, go to Settings > Software.
Restart your thermostat to refresh.
