need guidance, have bought a home with a Nest Thermostat, how can I control furnace without wi-fi?

I recently purchased a home that has a Nest Thermostat already in use. I believe it is the 3rd gen. learning thermostat? The current owner (the seller) is still living there and he has told me that when he moves out he will reset the thermostat to the factory settings.

I will not have internet (wi-fi) service until I actually move in to the home, which may be 30-days out. I do not have a smart phone, so using the Nest or google app is not an option.

How can I manually set this thermostat to ensure it will turn the furnace on to maintain the desired temperature I want to keep it at? I will be working in the house off & on and will want to be able to raise the temperature while I am actually there and then manually lower it when I am going to leave.

Nest thermostats don’t have a touch screen. Use it just like a normal thermostat, turn the ring up when you want it a little warmer, and turn it down when you want it a little cooler. You can press your thermostat ring towards the wall to see more options. Turn the ring to select an option. Press the ring again to confirm your selection.

Once the current owner resets the thermostat and moves out, you will need a phone or tablet with the Google Nest app to set it up again. Otherwise it will not work. At least initially, it must be setup using a phone or tablet with the Google Nest app.
