Nest Gen 1 Thermostat Often Delays The Start of Heating

We've had this thermostat for about a year+ now. Several months back this issue started:

We turn up the thermostat to add more heat
The thermostat displays "In 1 hour 20 mins (that's an example it could be 50 mins or 1 hour, etc.)
The heat does not come on and can often take 30 mins or more to actually switch on

I've always assumed the the "In (whatever time)" is related to estimation of how long to reach the desired temperature. And at other times it works like that i.e. heat comes on and displays estimated time.

We have no cooling on this system. All three wires (including common) are correctly lined up.

Anyone have same issue? Any suggestions most appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. A power-related issue might be the reason why your system takes time to generate heat. Let's sort this out.

To isolate:

Do you notice any intervals or specific patterns between these strange behaviors?
When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days?
Please check its power readouts on your actual thermostat's Technical Info settings.

In terms of consistency of timing that's hard to pin down. Sometimes it the best will kick on and an estimate of time to desired hear will be displayed. When it's not working right the time to desired heat will be displayed but the furnace doesn't click on for maybe an hour.

We have not had the furnace serviced recently.

I'll look at the settings you mentioned on the unit.

We use a wood stove as the primary heat so the furnace tends to be used randomly.

We haven't had a pet outage for about 2 months.

Think that covers it for now. I'll update with the power readouts in a follow up email.
