Hi Mark,

We have auto-schedule (learning) but sometimes I turn the Nest to 'Off' rather than 'Heat', and something is being activated when 'off'. No heat comes out of the radiators when this happens though.

The Nest is plugged in and on a stand.

I only have heating.

We had a smart meter fitted recently, but this has been a problem ever since we had the Nest installed.

In Technical info it says Batter 3.93 volts. Is that what you need?

Thanks for your help.

Jodie

I have a Nest and often turn it off but then, at times when it would normally turn the heating on, I hear the heating system activating, even though it doesn't actually heat anything. Is this normal and how do I stop it? Thanks

Hello JodieH,

Thank you for reaching out. If your system activates abruptly, there can be a power-related issue. I'd like to learn more about this, though.

To isplate:

Do you have a temperature schedule created or auto-scheduling enabled? This might cause your system to turn on randomly.

Do you have a common ground wire, or C wire?

Does the issue happen with heating only, cooling only, or both?

Has there been any recent work done on your thermostat(s) or heating system? If yes, what kind of work was done? How long was the power out for?

Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days or weeks?

Please gather the power readouts on your actual thermostat's settings. "Equipment" option for the Nest Thermostat 2020 model and "Technical Info" for the Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark
