Does Nest thermostat automatically reconnect to wifi after power outage ?

Had a power outage and I’m away. I thought the nest thermostat would automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi but it hasn’t. Is there a way for me to remotely reconnect it ?

Hello @Jocelyn153,

Thanks for reaching out. Although the Nest thermostat stores your schedule, temperature set-points, and other important settings in its memory, sometimes it might not work and remain offline after a power outage. Unfortunately, you will have to be physically present to restore the connection if this happens as it cannot be done remotely.

Thank you for your help. That’s not great news.
so if it goes offline when it comes back on does it go to a preset temperature? Is there a default even if it’s off line.?

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. Nest Thermostats set temperatures will stay even if it's offline or online since it's not dependable whether your thermostat is connected to your network or not. The purpose of the thermostat being online is for you to control it wherever you are.
