Installation

I apologize, I got busy and was unable to respond to responses to my last request. My issue is, when I turn off the breaker to the HVAC, I test it by turning the temperature up 5 degrees, and it still seems to kick on. With that, I am unable to disconnect the old thermostat since there still seems to be power to the unit. Would there be another switch that would turn off the unit?

Hello Mcal0323,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

The Nest Thermostats can stay on for a few minutes without power because of their batteries. But if your system is running when you turn it off, you might only hear your system still cooling down before it is completely turned off. To make sure, could you try removing the thermostat display from its base while the system is running? If it stops after a few seconds, there should be no problem with your equipment and thermostat.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Regards,

Mark

Hey there,

If you are having trouble with the breaker still powering up your HVAC system, I would recommend trying to turn off the master switch to your house. This would ensure no power is running when taking your old device off the wall. You can also reach out to an HVAC pro.

Best regards,
