Heater turns on and off several times

When the temperature falls down, the heater turns on. However, the heater turns off after a minute or so, and then almost immediately turns on again. The heater does it 2-3 times before it stays on to reach the desired temperature. What could be the issue here?

I have this same issue, with both of my Nests, on 2 separate heating units. These are new Nest thermostats, and it doesn't happen all the time.

Could be driven by the Aquastat that controls off/on if it's a hyrdo coil

Me, too. It doesn’t always do that so its really difficult to analyze whats wrong and I’m hesitant to call HVAC technician since it happens maybe 1 out of 4 times… Did you resolve it by any chance?

No... still an issue and I had an HVAC guy out and he couldn't figure it out either, everything is wired properly and the heater is functioning properly too. I have two furnaces, and 2 new Nests. Both Nests do this, with both furnaces. This did not occur with the prior thermostats. Frustrating as I've wasted about $550 on worthless thermostats from Nest.

Having the exact same issue ... system has a C wire. Had HVAC person out and he said to trash the Nest. He connected a Honeywell and showed it started up on first try. Is there a way to fix this or should I really trash the Nest?

I had HVAC repair out last fall…he ‘fixed’ it but said he didn’t like Nest: I do like best! Still getting warning from Nest. I wonder if it is doing this when the temp is ‘close’ to setting and doesn’t require much heater intervention, so it keeps bumping the heat. I don’t want to pay for another trip from HVAC for the same issue!
