Nest Turning Heater to 85??

Last night I heard the heater start up in the attic. I knew the thermostat was off. I went to the thermostat and sure enough it was running heat at 85 degrees. The house was at 77. I turned the heat off and checked the schedule. It was not set to run heat, so I put it back to cool. It went on its own to 85 and heat again as I walked off. I turned the thermostat off. As I stood there, it set back to 85 and turned the heat on. It repeatedly did this for 7 times till I left it on heat and adjusted the temp to eco in which it stayed and never adjusted itself again.

I have done the following. Reset the thermostat, cleared all programming, turned off the learning feature.

Any one seen this? Not quite sure what to look at next. Nest customer service is not helpful.

3/15/2023 9:15 AM Central USA. I just had a similar experience. My Nest was set to cool only. A couple of minutes ago I noticed the heater was on. I checked the Nest thermostat and it was set to cool only. I switched the Nest to off and removed it from the base. This was not the first time the Nest turned on the heater by itself. Not sure what is causing this.

I tried customer service and they basically told me I was crazy. At his point I will put a different more trustworthy thermostat on the wall since there is no answer for this.
