Hello ezelkow1,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, we would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let us know.

Regards,
Emerson

Sunblock not working

yes another sunblock not working post. I’ve had enabled for half a week so far. In the app it reports sunblock as on and ready but it is obviously not working. The sun never shows up on the thermostat and it is obviously affecting its temperature as here is a read out from a sensor pack I bought:

the dining room sensor being directly around the corner from the thermostat just not in direct sunlight. Do I need to just keep waiting even though it’s reported “ready” in the app? Or is it just that unreliable that I will have to depend on sensors?

this is with a nest learning, there are no sources of heat near the thermostat. This discrepancy only occurs while it is being hit by sunlight

Also of course after I posted I saw the sun show up on the nest unit and in the app. However it was still showing the uncorrected temperature in comparison to the other sensors

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Please try to toggle off and on the Sunblock option on your Nest app or on the Nest Learning Thermostat, then try restarting it after making changes.

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,
Zoe

How's it going with your Nest Thermostat? Were you able to read the information and check the link that Zoe has shared? Also, were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

I appreciate the help, Zoe.

Thanks,
Emerson

It hasnt been consistently sunny enough directly on the thermostat for me to really check or be home when it's doing it. After that first time of seeing it I havent seen it since. While temperatures are still higher in there they do seem like maybe they are slightly more in line with another sensor nearby now and I think that room may be a bit warmer to begin with

So for now Im calling it ok with using other sensors. Maybe later in the summer Ill have a better chance to try
