Thermostat: Scheduling ON and OFF time

I have searched the existing posts and I'm not the only one with this query but for whatever reason there is never a valid answer and the conversation dies. I want to do my utmost to keep this question alive until there is a satisfactory answer.

My variation on the question is: How do you schedule actual OFF and ON times for heating? How do you bypass the "safety features" that turn the heating ON during the night. If that is not possible... 9C is too high and needs to be lower eg at least 4C.

Thank you to those who have answered similar questions before but please tell me how we can get this sorted if there is not solution.

Hi Zoe,

Great to hear from you. I have a " Display-3.4" according to the technical info and the heating keeps coming on at night. I can only guess it's because the temperature drops below 9C. My request is ...can you allow the minimum temperature to be lower..even if only 4C? Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. First, to set actual off and on times for your heating is by creating schedules. Then, if you want your Safety Temperature be adjusted from 9°C to 4°C, follow the steps on this page:

Press the thermostat's display to bring up the Quick View menu.
Select Settings.
Choose Safety Temp.
Turn the ring to select the heating or cooling Safety Temperature you'd like to change and press the ring to choose it. Turn the ring to change the temperature and press the ring to confirm your change.
Choose Done to exit the menu.

However if you want to completely turn off your Nest Thermostat's Safety Temperature, you can go to Nest Thermostat's Settings, then Select Safety Temperature, then turn the dial to off.

Let us know if that works.

I followed your instruction and indeed I can set the Safety Temperature to off, but that's not what I want. I'm happy with a safety temperature as I don't want anything to freeze, but I'd like the minimum scheduled temperature to be lower; 9C is too high. eg, I'd like to set the scheduled minimum to be 0C and let the Safety Temperature turn on at 4C. Does that make sense. I assume at the moment the scheduled temperature overrides the Safety Temperature? Thanks for continuing to look into this. I think it would be solved with a simple change to the temperature range that can be set, eh from 9C to 4C. What do you think?
