None of the Nest thermostats support variable speed fans. The Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen, can control multiple speed fans (i.e., low, med, high), but not variable.

I recently changed my old furnace and AC to a variable speed, 2 stage. I have an ecobee3 lite thermostat but I can't get my fan to run constantly as before, the fan only works when it calls for heat/cool, even when I have it as "On" in my ecobee settings. Will the smart learning thermostat be a good candidate to fix this situation?

Does it mean that with a 2-stage variable speed furnace, I won't be able to have the fan run independently with a nest learning thermostat Gen3? even if the fan runs at a fixed speed?

I don't want the fan to fluctuate its speed when it is running all the time, as long as it runs to help circulate the air.

I guess I will need to go with a traditional thermostat, which I don't like

Thank you for answering my questions.

That is hard to say without knowing the exact equipment involved.

If you have the manufacturer name and the model numbers for the Heat pump, air handler, and any other devices, I can try and figure it out for you.
