No Yellow Wiring

I need assistance please. I had someone install my Nest and now he won't return my calls. I do not have a yellow wire for my air condition. Is it possible to put the white wire into the yellow wire spot? As of now I do not have access to my air condition.

Do not randomly insert wires, as you can damage your HVAC system.

Do you have a picture of the original thermostat wiring?

Can you post a picture of how they wired the Nest?

I wrote you yesterday about not having a yellow wire to connect to my thermostat. You said to not put the white wire in the yellow spot because I may damage my HVAC. Here are the pics that you requested. I was not able to get a pic of the thermostat setting before it was converted.

If your statement is accurate, then either the White wire or the Blue wire was connected to Y in your old thermostat. The only way to be sure is to get a multimeter and check the AC voltage between R-red wire and the Blue wire. Make sure that shows 24 Vac +/- 4 volts.

Without a picture of the original thermostat wiring or access to the system, it's all but impossible to figure out why there is no Cooling (Y) wire.

Have you checked the cable behind the base plate and seen if the installer broke the cooling wire off?

Do you still have the original thermostat? If you do, what is the manufacturer and model number of it? Can you post a picture of its base?

@James26, how's it going? Have you tried contacting your installer and asking about the wiring configuration? You can also verify your thermostat's wiring from your HVAC system control board itself and look for the corresponding wires to see how they are labeled and if there's a specific wire for your AC unit.
