I have Google Nest installed for the last 3 years, both heat and a/c working fine. The heat system works all winter, and recently I turned on A/C and started having E183 Error pops up. Tried to swap Y1 and G, and has new error code. I then re-seat the wiring, but issue still occurs. It pops up from no where, does anyone have any idea what could be the issue?

First of all, swapping Y1 with G is never going to solve a problem. All that did was make you Fan wire activate the air conditioner and make your Air Conditioning wire turn on the blower fan. I have seen a couple people recently reporting is E183 a error. I have looked through all of my documentation, and I cannot find that particular Error. Any E related error is a wire related problem. By chance do you happen to have a C wire used in your system?

The AC Cooling Wizard

I do have C wire on my thermostat. Once i turned on Cooling, the fan run for 20s then shutoff, while the A/C outside not making any sounds. I checked, there is current at the electrical box outside nearby the unit

You need to check the transformer AC voltage output and verify it is 25V ac +-4V. Additionally, you need to go to the Nest Thermostat and Goto SETTINGS > TECHNICAL INFO > POWER. You should see a display like the one I have included.

Voc is your Voltage Open Circuit. This is the available voltage with no load; system is off, or not calling for Heat or cooling.
Vin is the input voltage. This is the voltage currently being supplied in the Nest Charging circuit.
Lin is the current input. These are are the Amps. When using a (c) wire, this will be 100mA to 200mA. If you are not using a common wire, you are using an internal (i) path using W or Y wire and this Value will be 60mA to 80mA.

AC Cooling Wizards

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. Were you able to check the voltage from your AC transformer? You can visit this support article for your reference.

I appreciate your help, @CoolingWizard.

Best,
