Nest thermostat functions

I have 2 heating and cooling systems in my home. I’m trying to figure out if Nest Thermostats talk to each other in such a way as to not run at the same time thus pulling less amps overall. I have solar panels and don’t want my meter to draw power from the grid if I can avoid it. Does someone have an answer???

The Nest thermostats do not communicate with each other in a power sharing kind of mode. Each HVAC system is an independent system and are controlled independently. Now there is way that an HVAC contractor can make that possible. You would need to install a combination relay which has N.O and N.C. Contacts. It would be wired to the primary HVAC a system in such a way that if the Y/Y1 wire is activated for cooling, it would also energize the relay and remove Y circuit form the secondary unit. When the primary unit is satisfied, the Y wire would be de-energized and relay would open and the second unit would then be able to activate the cooling.
