How do I get the setup code without having to take it down because it says it is on the back of the thermostat but we already put it on the wall

For Nest Thermostat (not Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat), the QR code and setup code are printed physically on the back of the display. You should be able to pull your thermostat off its base, to access either of those things, then press your thermostat back onto the base until it clicks into place.
