Have 2 “extra wires” labeled “T”. Help!

hello the last two wires on the right read “t” on both but are different colors. I didn’t see that as an option in the nest compatibility. Anyone know how to proceed?

Those are most likely for an outdoor temperature sensor that the Nest does use and can just be taped off

The post above by Patrick is correct usually Trane uses this terminal with there equipment but it is not necessary to operate the system with other thermostats such as nest gen 3 leaning tstat

Additionally this is a heat pump. And thoughts on the proper placement of the 6 wires needed.

I tried with the recommended from nest compatibility but on cool it just blew warm air

orange wire-O

red wire-R

green wire-G

yellow-Y1

salmon-C

white-E

Hi folks,

@Jarper79, the T terminal is not needed for Nest Thermostat. As I checked for your current thermostat labels, yours is compatible with any of our Nest Thermostat. The wiring of your thermostat wires to Nest should go as:

orange wire - O/B or *OB
red wire - R or RC/RH
green wire - G
yellow wire -Y or Y1
brown wire - C
white wire - * or *OB

Thanks for the follow-up. What type of Nest Thermostat did you install? Also, can you help us with your Nest Thermostat's power reading? If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, go to Settings, then look for Technical Info, then select Power. If you have the Nest Thermostat 2020, go to Settings, scroll down to Equipment, then tap Power Info.

I'm sorry for the late response. Please share with us your Nest Learning Thermostat power readings and check your thermostat wiring diagram.

You can follow these guides:

Check the power readout:

Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
Go to Settings.
Look for Technical Info.
Select Power.

About wiring diagram:

Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
Go to Settings.
Look for Equipment.
Check the wiring diagram (ensure that all the wires are all detected).
