Compatibility help please!

The compatibility checker said I was compatible but the installation guide said I wasn't. I've read the help articles and I just can't figure it out. Can someone help me and let me know if I'm compatible with Nest. I think it's the W/E spot messing me up because in the checker I could choose W and E, but in the install guide I could only put W/W1. The dang W is confusing me.

@Memomom , you have a heat pump, and your old thermostat has the ability to activate Emergency Heat. However, you can see that the W/E is wire jumper to W2 which is auxiliary heat. This is normal for basic thermostats. The Nest Learning Thermostat has the ability for both Emergency Heat and Auxiliary Heat. You have two separate wires so that is good. The white wire is your auxiliary heat wire. The black wire is the emergency heat wire. All other wires are conventional system wires.
The conventional wiring is R/Rc/Rh are the 24VAC power in. The Y/Y1 is the compressor relay, the G is the indoor blower fan relay, and the O is the heat pump changer over valve, and the W/W1 is the is primary heat and W2 is the stage 2 heat. Now for heat pump systems, the W2 is used for Auxiliary heat. For the Nest Learning Thermostat, your wires will be:

Rc, Red wire, 24 VAC Power In

Y1, Yellow wire, compressor relay

G, Green wire, Blower relay

OB, Orange Wire, Heat Pump Reversing Valve

W2, White Wire, Auxiliary Heat

* , Black wire, Emergency Heat

C, Blue Wire, 24VAC Common Wire

Any advice how these wires correlate to my new Nest thermostat? For instance,

Green wire to Nest G, Yellow to Nest Y, O/B to OB, W2 white to W?, RH red to R?, W/E black to ??

Thanks for checking it with us. You can connect your black wire (Emergency Heat) to the Nest Learning Thermostat star (*) terminal. No. I'm good. Turns out I had the wrong thermostat! Returned those, got the new ones and should be good to go.
