CE/GE smart plugs appear offline

Ratrace

Hello, I have several CE/GE plugs that I have lights connected to. In the Home App some of the appear “Offline” and I can’t control them with my app. However if I ask my Google assistant in the room affected, I can turn on and off the lights. Sometimes, the lights will do what I ask but I get an audio response from the assistant telling me the device is not available and to try later. Anyone else experiencing this? This is a recent issue within the last couple of weeks, before that, all was fine

Hi Ratrace,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s check what’s going on. A few things: which Nest speaker? Were there any recent changes made before the issue started? Were you experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity issues recently?

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speaker for 30 seconds, then do the same thing on your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Juni

Hello, thanks for reaching out. I had tried those steps previously but no joy. The issue is if I give a voice command to my device such has “hey Google, turn on bedroom light” it will turn on the light however I get a message saying “sorry, it looks like the bedroom light is unavailable.” Even though it does follow the command and turns on the light. This is a recent problem, within the last month or so. There have been no major changes or additions to the system other than adding an additional plug. This issue was happening before I added the additional plug. The new plug is also experiencing this issue as well

Hey Ratrace,

Thanks for the update. Have you tried reinstalling your Google Home app? Try syncing your device using the command "OK Google, sync my devices". Also, check if there's an update on your CE/GE smart plugs.

Best,

Alex

Hello, thanks for reaching out. My issue appears to be more with the Google Home app. I can control my plug devices through the C app. The last thing I will try is to delete and reinstall the Google Home app as suggested, I’ll try that when I have some time to devote to it.
