Google Assistant activation fails with 83902 kGSKErrorDomain (Solution!)

Hello all,

I thought this might deserve a bit of attention, for a eventual bug fix from Google? At least might help some users stuck with this same error.

I tried desperately activating Google Assistant for our new Google Nest Mini on my iPhone / Google Home app. But it simply failed every single time on Google Assistant activation, when accepting the privacy policy etc. on the phone. The error message is super unclear -83902 kGSKErrorDomain, possibly points to DNS or such…? But troubleshooting network didn’t solve anything.

Finally I found a tip that Google Home app’s language (through phone Settings app, and there the Google Home app settings + language) selection had helped somebody.

And while I can’t believe it, that was indeed the case for me as well! My phone language is Finnish, and Google Home had defaulted to that language. I selected UK English for the application, and the google Assistant activation finally worked.

Please note: I did select English (UK) for Google Assistant on every attempt, but the activation fails whatever the user chooses, as long as the Google Home app language is something “exotic” (possibly any unsupported language by Google assistant)?

Could somebody please escalate this to correct development team? Not very user friendly error, and very tough to troubleshoot. And should be super easy fix.

Hi- it's a Nest Mini.
It's a new device, not on a new wifi.
I tried it at my FIL's house (it was a present) & got the error message every time.
Tried it in my house & worked first time.

I wonder if the language could be an issue- he has Google in Catalan & had enabled Spanish as the language for the speaker (Catalan doesn't appear on the list).

Many thanks Princess

When i Want to connect with my iOS this error shows up.

I just bought a new Google Nest Mini and I'm trying to set it up on IOS. I'm getting 83902 kGSKErrorDomain in the setup.

I see that many have this issues but Google didn't fix it. Feels incredible to have people buy for a product which doesn't work at all or needs 100 workarounds.

Is there any fix for this or should I return it?

What language do you have set in your phone's settings app, as well as in the Google Home app?

An error 83902 kGSKErrorDomain shows up during the setup. I read this could be fixed by settinä the language to English in Google Home, but how do I do this?

I went through the normal process of factory resetting the google home mini but when I got to the part of linking the account it would pop up with error code kGSKErrorDomain error -9807. What should I do?

I am trying to set up my father's new Google Nest Hub and I get an error saying "The operation couldn't be completed. (kGSKErrorDomain error-83905)."  I see other people have had this issue because their first language is not English.  That is not our issue, we are English speakers only.  I have tried multiple restarts, factory reset, reset the Wifi, different iPhones/iPads, all to no avail.  I have even returned two of the displays and Best Buy was absolutely no help, they will just happily replace it over and over.  Any suggestions?

Hi NigelB,

Thanks for bringing this up.

Can you please verify what Google Home/Nest speakers are you using? Are you trying to set up your device on a new WiFi network?

Let us know more about it by responding to this thread.

Best,

Princess
