I have a perfectly functioning Google Nest WiFi network at my home. I hadn’t looked at my Google Home app in quite some time. Now that I plan to add a couple additional points, of course I need to use the app to do so. When trying to log in to the app, I choose my google account on the initial “Confirm Account” screen, I then choose “I Agree” and the app immediately takes me to an error screen showing a dropped ice cream cone image and an error message that just says “Cancelled.”
Again, there are no connection issues to my network on any devices. I’ve disconnected and reconnected my cable modem and Nest router, and everything is fine…I just can’t authenticate into the Google Home app. Thoughts?

Solved. The issue was that when VPN is active on iPhone, Google Home can't find the home network and displays the "cancelled" error message. Toggle off the VPN and it works.
