Google home voice control with Philips Hue

I've successfully linked my Philips Hue lights to my Google Home account, I can control the lights through the app (on/off etc.) but the Google assistant voice controls don't work "it doesn't appear these lights are set up..." is the reply I get even though they are indeed linked. 

My Google Assistant is running through my Sonos speaker, all other commands and functions working fine, just voice comments with Philips Hue not working.

Hi Mrksdr,

Thanks for posting and apologies for the late response. I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with controlling Philips Hue on your Sonos speakers. Just wanted to check if controlling the Philips Hue on the native app works? Also, try saying " Okay, Google sync all devices ".

Hi Nikki, thanks for your reply. Yes, my Philips Hue lights work on the native app. I have linked them to my Google Home and can manual control them through Google Home, it's just the voice control that won't work. And yes, I've tried 'Okay Google, sync all devices' and that hasn't worked either. Keen to try any other ideas you might have. Thanks!

Hey there,

Thanks for letting us know. To confirm, are you using a Philips Hue Hub or the Bluetooth one?

Give these steps a try:

  • Uninstall and reinstall your Google Home and Google Assistant app.
  • Relink your Philips Hue account from the Google Home app.
  • Reboot your Philips Hue devices, router and speaker for a minute to refresh the connection.
  • Link back your Philips Hue account.

Thanks Alex, yes I've tried those steps and still not working. Whenever I ask Google any command relating to the lights is says 'it doesn't appear these lights are set up.'. Any other ideas?

Hello Mrksdr,

Yikes! Could you try these additional steps:

1) Log into https://goo.gle/3T8RgXQ
2) Click "Apps" at the top.
3) Deactivate all "Google" activated account
4) Launch Hue app on the phone
5) Click on the "Settings" icon at the top right.
6) Click on "My Bridges"
7) Click the "i" icon next to the bridge
😎 Click "Clean Up" and confirm.
9) Go to Google Home and link the Hue account as usual
10) Note that the lights don't show up right away. You need to leave the Home Control page, wait a few minutes, then go back.
