I have uninstalled the Google Home app before in attempts to start over. Several devices have been deleted but still show back up when the app is re-installed. The app has been very buggy since I started using it 5-6 years ago. I would like to delete everything and start from scratch.

I think you would have to remove all of your devices in the Google Home app, then remove any "household" members, then remove your Google Nest "home(s)/structure(s)" once it (they) is (are) empty, then factory reset all of your devices, and then delete and reinstall your Google Home app.

I have tried that. There are 3 devices that it will not let me delete because they are "linked". When I try to unlink the device so that it can be deleted, a message pops up that says "only owners can unlink". I am the only owner there has ever been, so, not sure why it says that. So, even if I uninstall the app, then reinstall, the devices still show up, also, it does not allow me to delete the home, only to leave the home.

We don't have any "linked" devices, but it sounds like there are issues with unlinking certain devices, with some customers succeeding, and for those who cannot, Google Nest did not have any solution on this recently locked thread:

Thanks for your help. It seems google has some known issues that they are unconcerned with. I guess I'll deposit my 5 Google devices in the trash and find another smart ecosystem.

Hi folks,
@MplsCustomer, thanks for the help.
@JAC22, thanks for posting. This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. You can delete the linked device directly from your Google account instead. Check these helpful links.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Juni
