IHC (Old Broadlink App) Devices cannot be deleted from Google Home App

Jamezy

Hi all,

Ive been having quite a few dramas with the old IHC app and voice automation.

About 18 months ago it simply stopped working with Broadlink RM Pro so I began from the beginning and reinstalled each device by recording the RF remote back into the device.

I thought things were fine until I tried to use the new Broadlink App until Google decided that it wasn't compatible again. Every time I would give a voice command Google would respond with an error even though the device would activate. I left that for almost a year until recently when I decided I want to get rid of anything to do with IHC/Broadlink.

I have since purchased a new device and programmed it to work though any of the old commands that were used with IHC do not work, Google simply says it cant connect to IHC even though I have already deleted all of the devices from both the IHC and Broadlink apps.

I am stumped, I cannot seem to find a way to delete Google from remembering "main bedroom" and "master bedroom" as being related to IHC. I do not want to rename these areas as I want it to simply work the way it should.

I cannot find a way to delete my IHC account fully, contact IHC for advice or remove all previous devices that I used with the apps when the going was good.

Hope I haven't made this a confusing story but any help would be greatly appreciated..

I am having the same issue. I switched from IHC to new Broadlink app. Although not showing as linked, Google still tries to contact IHC.

Hi folks,

@Jamezy and @FunGuysU, thanks for posting. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, so let’s get this resolved. You can check your Google account settings and see if IHC is still linked there. Check this link.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Juni

Sorry for the delay in getting back. I have just spent the weekend trying different approaches to this issue. Including a 3 hour conversation with Google Helpdesk on Saturday. Of course they eventually said to go back to Broadlink.

We performed the following:

Unlinked IHC Smart Home and Broadlink from Google Home and Google Account (and Smart Life just to be sure)

Deleted apps from phone - IHC, Broadlink and Google Home

Rebooted my router

Re-installed Home and Broadlink apps

Checked nothing linked in Google Account

Linked Broadlink

I found there were devices showing Offline and when checked they were linked to IHC Smart Home.

Several further rebootings installings & deletings of apps and Linking and Unlinking.

This is where we gave up.

Sunday, I started again. I deleted everything again then added ONLY Broadlink app and Linked to Google. SUCCESS! Every thing seems to be working.

I think that maybe a Server update (either Google or Broadlink) overnight cleared something. OR Google playing on Saturday did something. Anyway, thanks for you help

PS All my devices in Broadlink app show buttons with Mandarin characters. The language is English. Can you help?

Sure sounds like a painful experience of trial and error and my hat goes off to you for trying all the multiple avenues and even in different orders it would seem.

What I can't find is customer service for broalkink to even get assistance with the removal process. Having these phantom devices takes away from the experience of hooking devices up via voice command.

Things should just work, I don't even use IHC or broadlink anymore but I'm reminded of it regularly by Google still trying to link like named devices to IHC.

Interesting how it can't be deleted, perhaps I'm missing something here?

Hello everyone,

Jumping in to see if you're still in need of help about the unavailable devices that are still showing up on your Google Home app? How is it? May I know what Nest speakers you have set up? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot to refresh the link between your devices. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by our Nest speakers and your other smart devices. Plug them back in after 3 minutes starting with your router. Restarting your phone might also help. Tell us how it goes.

Thanks,

Dan

Jamezy - Best way to get Broadlink attention is to leave a negative comment in Google Play or App Store.  They will contact you 🙂

Unfortunately all that's been suggested here has not helped my situation as even.a moment ago I was reminded that IHC could not be co nexted even though I do not have it linked.

Has Nyone found a way to resolve this issue successfully other tha renaming devices that IHC never used in the past?

Thanks for your message but zero has changed on my end. IHC phantom devices still live in my Google assistant and there is no way to unlink the app other than what's I've already done.

Broadlink have no means of contacting them either through the IHC platform

Hi Jamezy,

Thanks for trying that. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Have you tried unlinking it directly to your Google account? Here is the link again. If this did not work, could you try to create a new home then set up your devices there then observe if the IHC device will still show?

Keep me posted.

Juni

Same here.

When linking Google to Broadlink OR ihc for EU, Google home insists there are 6 devices, when there are only TWO.

Using ihc for eu, the two devices show, but are maked offlinr

Using broadlink, the two devices show but have limited control functionality

Hi folks,

Thanks for the details you shared, sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. @Jamezy, could you try to create a new home and observe if the IHC devices will still show? Check the steps below on how to create a new home.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top, tap Add Add.
  3. Tap Create new home.
  4. Follow the steps.

Note: You can have up to 5 homes in your account.

@Digit, thanks for reaching out. Have you tried the steps provided in this thread?

Looking forward to your responses.

Regards,

Juni
