Finally found a phone help line and have got the app for my Nest Thermostat V3 fully working. I thought maybe that the thermostat was defunct but no - the problem was due to a glitch with a Nest app update. If xou delete the app completely from your phone and thermostat and basically reinstall everything from scratch it will all work again perfectly. HOORAH!
