Nest Hub 2 / Google Home App Instability & Urgent Need for Regional Language Transparency (Russian)

Hello Google Nest Team and Community,

I am a long-time user of the Nest Hub 2nd Gen and I have two major points of feedback/inquiry, particularly concerning the stability of the Google Home app and the rollout of new features like Gemini Live for non-English speakers.

1. The Critical Issue of App Instability and Factory Resets
After recent Google Home app updates, my Nest Hub 2 repeatedly disappears from my list of devices in the app. This issue prevents me from accessing device settings and managing new features.

The only reliable solution, based on community advice, is to perform a full Factory Reset on the device and set it up from scratch.

This is not an acceptable solution for users. Forcing a complete reset simply to restore basic connectivity and stability is a severe defect in the app's update process. We spend significant time reconfiguring personal settings, linking accounts, and setting up routines. We urgently need a permanent fix so that device settings and connectivity persist through app updates without resorting to a factory reset.

2. Clarity on Regional Language & Feature Rollouts (Gemini Live)
The new premium features (like the promised Gemini Live functionality or other Google Home Premium benefits) are highly anticipated. However, transparency around regional language support is lacking.

My core questions regarding Russian language support are:

Where can users track the official rollout status of new features (like Gemini Live) for specific regions and languages, such as Russian?

Is there a dedicated official page or blog where Google announces the addition of new regional languages for Nest Hub / Google Home devices?

It is crucial for users in non-primary markets to know if they are subscribing to features that will only be accessible in English, or if they can expect full support in their native language (in my case, Russian) in the near future.

Thank you for your attention to these critical issues. We look forward to a more stable and regionally inclusive experience.

Hi UkrEvgen66,

Thank you for reaching out to our community. I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Hub (2nd Gen) repeatedly disappears from the Google Home app after updates, and the only way to fix it is to perform a factory reset. It is my pleasure to assist you with this concern.

I recommend trying a power cycle on your Nest Hub (unplugging it for a minute and plugging it back in). Restarting the device from the Google Home app settings has successfully re-established the connection without a full reset.

Regarding the availability of premium features like Gemini Live in other languages, such as Russian, especially when considering a subscription, let me tell you that while the core Gemini models support many languages, the integration of new features into specific devices, such as the Nest Hub, often rolls out to English in primary markets first for refinement before expanding to other languages and regions.

In response to your inquiry about how users can track the official rollout status of new features (like Gemini Live) for specific regions and languages, such as Russian, here are the official channels we use for feature announcements:

  • The Google Home Blog (Keyword): This is where we announce major rollouts, including new features and initial country availability.
  • Google Nest Help Center: Our support pages and release notes are updated with specific device and feature requirements, including any language limitations.
  • Google Home App: The Early Access program within the app itself is the official method for us to communicate which features are currently available in your specific region and language. Here is a helpful Google Nest Help Center article for more information: Learn about Gemini for Home voice assistant

Please consider sharing your thoughts directly with our development team through this feedback form. Your input will help us prioritize features and ensure that we're meeting the needs of our diverse user base.

Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Virna
