Trying to solve a problem with my Google Home devices, I removed myself from my existing Home group in the Google Home app.
I then asked my family members - who remain members of that Google Home group - to re-invite me to the Home group via their Google Home app.
But they all receive the error message "this person is already part of your home".
I can confirm that I am not showing up as being in the home in their Google Home app, that they are inviting my correct gmail address, and there are no outstanding invitations in either my Home app or gmail account.
The problem seems to be that Google thinks I'm still a member of the Home group, when I'm not.
Please help.

Hello, Google...?
Is there any other way other than the app to remove me from the Home group, so that a Home group member can then reinvite me to join?

So, tumbleweeds huh...?

Hi Appogee,
Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out. You need to be removed from the Home before the household members can reinvite you. Just to verify, how were you removed in the Home? For reference, you can find the steps here. Once confirmed, uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app before re-inviting your account. If the issue persists, I suggest that the owner creates a new Home > Move all the working devices there > Invite your account.
Let me know how it goes.

Alex

Thanks for engaging with this issue.
I removed myself from the Home by selecting "leave this home" in Settings. (I did that because I was trying to fix the "can no longer broadcast" issue that I've since learned has become a widespread issue for many users.)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Home app. However, members of the Home are unable to re-invite me. Their apps/Google still seems to think I am a member of that Home.
I will do as you have suggested and ask the owner of the Home to create a new Home, move all the devices there, and then invite me.

Hello Appogee,
I wanted to follow up and see how it goes. Did the suggested steps work for you?
Warmly,
Alex

Thanks for touching base.
The status is that there are now two separate Homes across my 80 or so devices. I've succesfully been invited to one of the Homes.
I think the next step is for me to work out who 'owns' the other Home, get them to delete it, and then add the remaining devices to the one Home.

Hi there,
The Home structure where your devices are in each room is the main/original home. If you see your devices under Other cast/Local devices, that Home is the new home. You should move your working devices from the original home to the new home before you delete the structure to prevent issues in setting up the devices.

Alex

Hey Appogee,
Have you tried Alex's suggestion above? Let me know if that did the trick or not, so we can try something else.
Sincerely,
Lovely

Thanks for touching base.
I have about 80 devices in my Google Home, and the majority of those have successfully been moved to the new Home.
So I would say that Alex's solution is working for me and I expect it will continue to work for the remainder of the devices.
On that basis you could close this thread.
Thanks everyone for your assistance.

I appreciate the update and thanks for sharing this information. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
