Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that issues with your thermostat can be frustrating but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,
Garrett DS

No, the problem is still there. Also our nest keeps switching to away when we are clearly in the house just not near the nest device. Previously we solved this problem by setting it to "heat" rather than "eco" mode. It is still set to hear but tells me it is set to away. How do we switch that off. I think you guys are trying to really annoy us with all the so called "smart" settings you keep introducing.

How do I turn off seasonal savings, I don't see the answer here?

I didn’t sign up for this piece of sh*t to decide to set my temperatures to whatever it thinks they should be. Stop micromanaging my home. I know what is comfortable and don’t need to save the world by shivering all day in my home.  Instructions to fix it are not correct.

Same issue here. I didnt ask for my temperature settings to randomly be changed so Google can get kickbacks from energy companies... this is CLEARLY a gimmick because its impossible to turn off seasonal savings... please help me get this turned off. 75 degrees is entirely too hot and humid for children with asthma.

Hello everyone,

It's us again. I wanted to bump this thread to make sure that everything is covered. Were you able to perform the steps suggested above? Also, have you checked the information from the link that Mel has shared? In case you have an update, you know where to find us.

I appreciate the help, Mel.

I opted in to seasonal savings years ago. Since then, I have NEVER, EVER been able to disable it. Yes, once it's silently and secretly screwed up the temps in my house and either chilled the hell out of us, or heated us up so much at night that we're awakened sweating, I then have to find the feature and turn it off, manually fixing the schedule changes.

WHY CAN'T WE PERMANENTLY OPT-OUT?!! I am seriously considering dumping this thermostat! The ONLY reason we use it, is for app-based remote control so when we're away, we can monitor and set things. All the rest is JUNK! We have steam heat and forced-air A/C. They are not connected, NEST can do NOTHING to fix or adjust things via the thermostat, it's an old building, and it requires on/off control, not all these 'smart' features!

So far, Google support has not said how to get rid of this invasive 'seasonal savings' automated temperature change feature. Regardless of how cold you leave your home, it drops it anyway!! 55 degrees? Seasonal savings will fix that.... they'll drop it off the map! We were away...set the house to away at 55 degrees, and Seasonal Savings decided to turn off the thermostat!! We had that extremely cold time years ago...temps got below zero in NYC... our house went into the 30s... EVEN though the Nest emergency temp. was set to 40, it never turned the heat on!! Pipes froze!

80 years of mechanical thermostats and that never happened in this home! What gives, Google?!! TURN THIS FEATURE OFF!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the delay.

You’re always in control. If you don’t want to use Seasonal Savings, you can turn it off at any time.

  • When you get the Seasonal Savings notification
    • If you don’t want to participate, you can choose No Thanks to opt-out of the program altogether.
  • If you’ve already enabled Seasonal Savings, you can manually override temperature adjustments or stop Seasonal Savings altogether.
    • To manually override temperature adjustments, change the temperature on your thermostat or in your schedule.
      • The Seasonal Savings icon seasonal savings icon will disappear and won’t appear again until Seasonal Savings makes another temperature adjustment.
      • If you have Auto-Schedule enabled, then Seasonal Savings will use your adjustments to find new, more comfortable tweaks to your schedule.
    • To stop using Seasonal Savings, open the Nest app, go to your thermostat and select History Nest protect history icon. . If Seasonal Savings is running, you will find how many days remain and a Stop button.

Important: If you opt-out or turn Seasonal Savings off, you won’t be able to opt-in to the program again until the next season it becomes available.
