Unable to login to nest using Google account

WmJPate

When trying to login to nest using my Google credentials I am prompted to allow google access and then I am looped back to the initial login screen. This occurs for two accounts on my iOS Apple phone.  Both accounts have been migrated to google login. The issue does not occur when logging in through Chrome or on my android phone using the same accounts. Please advise.

Hey WmJPate,

Sorry to hear about your experience but thanks for reaching out.

A few questions — what is the make and model of the mobile device that you're having concerns on? Were there recent changes or updates made on this phone before this started happening? Also, have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling your Nest app on this phone?

Best,

Melba

Used the wrong method to respond, sorry.  Anyway there have been no system updates in the past several months on my wifes'sapple Iphone 7.  And yes I have tried deletinging the app and then reinstalling after a reboot with no success.  Initially I thought it was only the phone and now have found a way to bugger up logging into my Windows 10 using chrome.  Neither one of our accounts work now.  They appeared to change some security permissioning allowing access.  When I was logging into nest using my wife's account, It wanted to confirm here identity using her phone to confirm and you were required to respond by matching one of 3 - 2 digit #s it was offering and then would ask if you wanted to use her existing account.  I apparently buggered the response by saying NO and now neither account can access nest.  I can only get to next on my google pixel 2 logging in with either account.  I wonder If there is something cached that I need to delete.

Hi WmJPate,

This is odd. Are you using a migrated Google account or a non-migrated Nest one? Also, when at the Nest app, do what option do you choose when logging in? is it the 'Sign in with Google' or 'Sign in with Nest' option?

Best,

Melba

Both accounts were converted over 2 years ago to Google credential validation, primarily as I needed to revisit payment for the video tracking service.  This entire issue became problematic about 6 months ago, beginning with my wife's inability to launch Nest on her I phone 7.   I then attempted to use mine and managed to bugger my account on that device. My playing with trying to deal with the issue morphed as I used my Windows / Chrome login.  I still have access using my android pixel 2 but am afraid to logout and try her account for fear of buggering up it as well.  I do believe, having said that, that my wife's credentials are still good on my pixel.

Should have tried this earlier, but have successfully logged into my Nest account using my Google credentials with a clean Firefox browser instance.   Obviously there is something cashed or lingering someplace preventing logging into Nest using my existing Chrome environment.  Thinking this might be the same issue with my wife's IPhone 7.  Frankly I don't want to initialize Chrome to it's base without knowing where the issue is and the same goes for initializing the IPhone 7.  Thoughts?

Good day.  Does Google provide assistance as it seems I've run into a dead end.  There seem to be no relevant documentation as to how to resolve this problem without simply scrubbing all the device environments which is simply an unacceptable solution.  It's kind of like telling someone to reboot their computer to resolve a lockup problem in the early days of Windows.   I can't believe I'm the only person experiencing this looping conundrum.

Awful - google doesn't even bother to pick up the phone

I have a Google account lockout problem, and you are right, impossible to get ANY help from Google. AWFUL.

Yup, I've tried again and again and tried to follow their account recovery Web site instructions but they state " For your security, you can't call Google for help to sign into your account. We don’t work with any service that claims to provide account or password support."

I find that ridiculous that they would just refuse to help their customers in their time of greatest need. Other web sites like TWITTER and AmericanExpress and most BANKS have a customer service number they can call to help the customer regain access to their accounts.  but GOOGLE has chosen the "TOUGH LUCK" no help for you path. It has caused me a GREAT DEAL of angst and anxiety due to their TOTAL LACK OF SUPPORT. And I have a GOOGLE DEVELOPER account and Advertising as well as Nest thermostats, Google HOME devices (4), Google home network, and many web related logins tied to this GOOGLE account. It unbelievable how their Google "SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE" service permeates my life. It sneaks up on you over the years just how many services depend on making it easy on you to log in with GOOGLE until it doesn't work any more. Then you're left hanging and they could CARE LESS!  Great company philosophy   😞

It was resolved, circuitously.   Can't remember exactly but I believe the phones were replaced and that purged what ever impeded what ever was causing the issue.
