Hey there, 

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with the home/away presence sensing with the new version of the app, I'm sure it's frustrating, but I'm happy to look into this for you. 

 

I would suggest removing the current update and going back to the previous update until a fix for this version is provided. That would be the best solution for now.

i saw it. i can confirm as per other threads that older versions work. every time alphabet chimps bork an update though and you have to do this you get the old, non-functioning handset device unable to "sync my devices" cluttering up the home. how can i get rid of them?

(i decided a wayward device or 3 was better than a month of ridiculous 'smart' heating bills thinking i am home 24/7)

Hey there, 

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to remove old devices from the app that you no longer use. Instead, you will have to wait for them to fall off after 6 months of being un-used or greyed out.

but there are always more than 2 broken updates a year. they will constantly get replaced by "new" broken ones 😕

Hey, everyone.

The first thing I would like you all to reference is our troubleshooting guide on this. There are some particular things to watch out for, but the solution to this could be a variety of factors. Here's that article: https://bit.ly/3tAyNGG.

Some users have found that setting up routines in the Home app has been the fix, such as this user here: https://bit.ly/3AgZoi8.

Just remember that manually setting ECO mode before leaving will override the home/away routine. There are other actions that can prevent home/away from working properly, so check through that guide to see if anything applies to you.

(your app does not correctly poll my device... if i turn off wifi background scans it thinks i have disabled location completely)

1. up to and including 2 57 1 18 still broken. play store warned an update to play services would also install but this did not happen. still hung up on wifi scanning and tracking the world rather than making products that work, eh?

2. 3x ghost devices still exist after 6 months now. 1 is 8 months old, 2 are 4 months old. why is every single person that i communicate with at google either really stupid or just flat-out a liar?

the latest v3 3 1 4 says location permission needs to be enabled. whether it is or isn't.
