Hey Google Nest Community,

We’re happy to share that we have added full scheduling capabilities for older Nest Thermostats (since 2015) to the Google Home app for the first time! This functionality was previously only available in the Nest app, and it began rolling out starting last week for the following models:

  • Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen
  • Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen (UK/EU)
  • Nest Thermostat E
  • Nest Thermostat E (UK/EU)

While Auto-Schedule helps you save energy and keep your family comfortable, we know many customers prefer to manually set schedules. All of your existing schedules from the Nest app will carry over to the Home app, so you can add, remove, or change temperature events for heating and cooling where it is most convenient. You’ll also be able to set sensor and fan schedules to keep your thermostat running with the perfect configuration for your home.

We’ve recently made a few other improvements across all your thermostats, including our latest models like the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen):

  • Making it easier to clearly see your thermostat’s heating and cooling state in the Google Home app, with more vibrant colors and updated descriptions
  • Refreshed energy dashboard that shows separate totals for heating and cooling, a breakdown of usage by stage and heating type if present in your system (e.g. alternative heat, auxiliary heat, first and second stage), and a weekly year-over-year comparison of your monthly energy usage

We hope you enjoy these improvements to the thermostat experience! If you want to keep up to date on the latest changes, take a look at our release notes.
