Hey Nest Community,


Last week, we entered the
next era of Google Home with the announcement of Gemini for Home. Since then, we’ve been diligently collecting feedback across our support channels, social media, in-app feedback, and here on the Nest Community (yes, we read all of them!).


Today, I’m here to share a recap of the first week to celebrate our launch and address some of the feedback/questions we received.


I’m thrilled to see many of you enjoying the updates! Some of my favorite comments included:


Let’s start with some of the positivity we saw!

  • “Great to hear that you'll be supporting all devices released over the last 10 years. With the original Google Home being released in 2016, that pretty much means every speaker/display version will eventually be supported. Awesome 😎
  • “This [Google Home Premium] was the most frictionless interaction I have ever had with a Google product. I thought it was going to be some hoop jumping, but 3 clicks later it was done, and I'm paying $10 a month less.”
  • “Woke up this morning in Australia and noticed I had the Gemini descriptions available on my 7 cameras, turned them this morning and it has done a solid job of capturing the day around the house🤘"

 

That said, I've heard feedback that the roll out has not been as clear or smooth as we would have liked. The #1 thing most of you are asking about is when you’ll get Gemini for Home -- we’re working hard to roll this out to as many users as quickly as possible, starting with users who opted into the early access. Thank you for your patience.


We’ve also updated
the FAQ we posted last week to address the top questions we received since then. We answered new questions, like:

  • How will I know that I have been granted Early Access and that I have the Gemini for Home features?
  • Will I still need the Nest app, or will all my Nest devices be fully controllable within the Google Home app?
  • Which Google Home features can I use in the Gemini app?


And as you try Gemini for Home do consider sharing your feedback with us (the good and the bad) so we can keep improving. The best way to do that is via our in-app feedback tool, tapping the thumbs up or thumbs down button in the Google Home app (and providing optional text feedback), or on the dedicated community thread.
