2 Nest 2nd gen doorbells with no chime

My customer would like to set up (2) 2nd gen Nest wired doorbell cameras installed and not have a chime. I have 2 questions. Since the home had a doorbell system, in order to bypass the chime, can I sent 24 volts directly to eacj doorbell button / camera?

What is the minimum VA I would need on a 24 volt transformer need to power 2 doorbells. I see several posts mentioning 10-40 VA but from what I see, that seems like the answer for having just 1 doorbell. Please let me know the minimum VA needed for 2 wired 2nd gen doorbell / cameras.

Hello @gsurace,

Thank you for posting in the community.
I appreciate all the information you have provided. I understand your desire to install two Nest Wired Doorbell (2nd generation) cameras without a chime. Let's take a look at the next piece of information:

  • To power two Nest Wired Doorbells, you'll need a transformer with a higher VA rating than what's typically used for a single doorbell. I recommend consulting with a qualified electrician to determine the appropriate transformer for your specific setup, and the electrician can also check out this link: voltage and power requirements for Nest doorbells. To get an idea of how to proceed with your installation.
  • Please note that bypassing the chime entirely might affect your home's electrical system and could potentially create safety hazards. It's essential to prioritize safety when working with electrical components.
  • I recommend contacting a professional electrician to ensure the correct installation and safe operation of your Nest Wired Doorbells.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

All the best,
Jorge
