2 Nest outdoor cameras stopped working

tsiattalou

Hi there

I have two outdoor nest cams and I had to isolate the mains power to the house last week. And when I turned the power back on, the cameras will not restart.

I have the same problem with both cameras - no lights showing whatsoever.

I have tried resetting the modem, and also turning both cameras on and off (flicked the switch and unplugged for over 10 seconds) and still nothing.

Please help, thank you in advance.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out! I can understand where you're coming. No worries, we'll check this out. Is the Nest Cam Outdoor’s cable securely connected to the power adapter? Are there any kinks or frays in the cable? Also, did the camera work when it was first installed? If yes, how long has it been since installation?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Move the camera and plug it into a different working power outlet.
  2. Unplug the power adapter from the power outlet and from the locking USB cable that connects to the camera.
  3. Inspect for damages on the cable.
  4. Remove or reinsert the USB cable from the Nest power adapter. Watch the LED light for any changes. If the LED light blinks, or the camera power cycles.
  5. Wait for five seconds, then plug it back in.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Have you try to reset the camera?

Hi thanks for your reply. The Nest Outdoor Cam doesn’t have a reset. Resetting the camera is only done via turning the power off/on. So yes I have (as I have tried the power off/on) and both cameras still do not appear to turn on.

Yes they do. I just reset my yesterday to reinstall. You have to hold the button on the back for at least 10 sec and you will see the amber light and sound when you holding the button. Hopefully this will work

I forgot to ask, do you have the new outdoor battery or the first generation?

It doesn’t have a battery. It must be first generation

Ok. You must have the 1st gen. Have you try to plug into different outlet to see?

yes I have. Also it’s the same problem with two different cameras.

Also try to unplug from the disk ( USB) instead of the outlet plug.

Hi there

I will check these steps when I get back home tomorrow. But as both cameras have the same issue. I don’t believe it’s anything to do with loose or damaged cables.

Thanks, will come back to you shortly
