2nd Gen Wired Nest Doorbell INDOOR Mechanical Chime

We installed our Doorbell four months ago. The doorbell was working with our mechanical indoor chime. The indoor chime worked for perhaps a couple of months before  the indoor chime stopped working. Everything else continued to work (camera recording, wifi, notifications, and such).

I read on a thread in this community that many people had solved this exact problem by upgrading their transformer from 16V 10VA to 16V 20VA.  I had our electrician come and check the wiring (it was good, he said), and install a 16V 20VA transformer. YES, now our indoor mechanical chime works flawlessly.

Thank you to those who posted about this issue elsewhere. Because of you, our problem was resolved.

I hope, too, Google adjusts their specs or makes an official suggestion to upgrade the transformer from the alleged minimum of 16V 10VA.

Cheers all. 🙂

This seems to be a common problem with both the old and new Google Nest doorbells. We upgraded to a 16V 30VA transformer several years ago in order to get our second Nest Hello Doorbell to chime.

Yes, I believe you pointed out this solution in one of the threads I read. Thank you! It's such a relief to have the doorbell work properly.
