2nd gen wired doorbell installation

I've attempted to set up my doorbell with the provided instructions.

I had replaced my doorbell transformer as it seemed to be at the very minimum of the doorbell requirements.

The transformer tested good.

I get a low power indicator when I attach the doorbell to the doorbell wires. And the push button won't trigger the doorbell.

With the chime connector attached to the transformer and front terminals I can't get the doorbell to ring by shorting the wires.

As soon as I remove the chime connector, the doorbell chimes when I touch the wires together.

It seems the chime connector is drawing too much power somehow.

Does your doorbell meet the requirements documented in the Help topic below? Is it wired as described?
