429 too many requests error

Zefrn

I was looking at my Nest doorbell and camera about 30 minutes ago from my phone. Once I got home I opened https://home.nest.com and immediately received and error code - 429 too many requests .

When I try from other browsers I receive the same error.

I logged out of the app on the phone, which was no longer responding, and logged in again. After having to enter the code to verify my identity the app begins to load then immediately jumps back to the service error page in the app.

I just checked my phone again and the app appears to be working, but when I try from my laptop web browser I still receive the 429 too many requests error.

What gives?

As I said prior, I was able to resolve my issue by doing the following.

1. powering down my cameras

2. logout from all browsers & app and possibly clear cookies

3. Login to home.nest.com
If successful your cameras will show offline because they are powered down.

4. Power up cameras

5. website or app will begin displaying feeds.

this worked for me. Your mileage may vary.

I've been having the same problem lately too but I just discovered turning off my VPN allows the site to load.  It seems the network you're coming from makes a difference.  There may be nefarious actors that use the same VPN as me which causes googles servers to reject similar traffic.  Not sure if this helps but thought I'd share some newly discovered knowledge.

Having this problem with my nest thermostat (with temperature sensors), but I don't use any vpns or anything, can't control my nest at all from the web or the app. Pretty frustrating.

I resolved the issue by powering off my cameras then opening the app or web page successfully, but with all devices shown offline (as it should). I then powered up the cameras and everything worked and continues to work properly.

I have hundreds of cameras, this won't work for me.
