We just got our doorbell yesterday. After step-by-step instructions and checking the voltage transformer capabilities, the doorbell started to flash gray after powering up. No chime whatsoever. Damaged internal battery maybe?

Google Nest's help page does not list a flashing gray light for the new doorbell. See this link:

Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out. We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s sort this out — a few questions: what’s the voltage of your transformer? Do you have a mechanical or electronic chime? Also, what’s the model of your doorbell?
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Thanks,
JT

I have the same problem.
I cannot find my transformer but my chime says it uses a 16v transformer. I get a flashing white or yellow light (never saw blue). No chime and cannot connect.
The old doorbell worked fine. I know its wired properly because if i close the circuit it rings.

Your old doorbell can be wired correctly and your chime can ring if the circuit is closed, but your 16V transformer may still not power your Google Nest doorbell. We had to replace our very old transformer when we first got Google Nest Hello Doorbells several years ago, even though our old doorbells still worked (and it was in a very hard-to-get-at location in the basement ceiling). See this page on voltage and power requirements:

A flashing yellow light can mean "Insufficient power":

Thanks for the reply. My tranformer is not visible so I guess a Nest product is not possible.

Yes thanks. I returned the product and will seek an alternative solution that doesn't require me tearing out drywall for a doorbell.
