Is this a new camera install?  Do you have either the NEST AWARE or NEST AWARE PLUS subscription activated?

If you have no subscriptions, then I understand that you're allowed to see just the last 3 hours.

Yes, that is correct.  But it is just events that have happened in the last 3 hours.  So if there is no motion events then there will be nothing to look at.   Here is all the information on Nest Aware...

No, I have been using these cameras for about 1 month now with no issues.  Then they stopped working.  I do not have a subscription and I am only trying to view activities less than 3 hrs.

Maybe what changed is that your 30-day free Nest Aware subscription expired.

Are you "filtering" the results under the Activity option?

Your post says "Nest app" and "Nest Cam Outdoor", but the Google Nest Outdoor Camera (installed in the Google Nest app) hasn't been sold by Google Nest since Sept. 2021, so I'm guessing you have the newer 2nd gen Google Nest Battery Cameras.

For your cameras, in the Google Home app, under Settings | Video | Video history, what option do you have checked?  Do you by any chance have "No video history" checked?

We have a 2nd gen battery camera--plugged in with the optional power cable--but if we unplug it, it does not do very well detecting an event if we walk in front of it while it's on battery power.

In my opinion the cameras are almost useless without the monthly subscription.  The good news is the one fee that you pay covers ALL your nest cameras.  So if you have 5 or 6 cams it is well worth it.
