BOOT LOOP

BOOT LOOP.

I tried everything.  It won't even hard reset.  Left it unplugged for days... plugged directly to USB charger, etc etc.  Any other options?

Hey Kungfugrip,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that. A few questions: what type of Nest camera do you have? What's the status light of it? Were there changes made with the setup, settings, and/or app of the Nest camera? Also, are there any kinks or frays in the cable? Keep us posted.

Thanks,

Archie

Hi,

Nest Hello Cam.

1) Blue circle comes on and then fades, the green light flashes on then off immediately, goes dark for about 10 seconds...

2) blue circle comes on and increases... decreases... then blinks, then increases... decreases... increases... decreases.. then blinks with green light and goes dark

1) the 2) repeat over and over.

It was doing this while it was wired to the doorbell system, I have it a second unit of the exact same model that is working.  i wired the boot loop device to that location and it continued to loop.

there is a long delay and this happens again.

any thoughts?

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help here, Archie.

Thanks for sharing that with us. We appreciate your efforts. Let's sort this out. Do you have a Nest Hello doorbell (wired) or the Nest Doorbell (battery)? What's the voltage of your transformer? When did the issue start? Did you experience a power outage? Also, are the wires seated properly into the doorbell?

  • Give these steps a try:
  • Ensure that the wires are seated properly at the back of your doorbell.
  • Restart your doorbell by pressing the button at the back for 5 to 10 seconds using a release tool, pin or clip.
  • Factory reset your doorbell.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

JT

Hey bud,   It is a wired Nest Hello, Please read my initial post.  I have another unit that works fine.  I tried the boot loop unit in the other location (different doorbell) to rule out a wiring issue.  I also tested the voltage on both wires at both location and they have no issues.

I described the what happens with of the boot loop above(lights and order of the loop) .  I tried the factory reset  several times, but then just goes back to the boot loop.

Hi Kungfugrip,

Thanks for sharing that and we appreciate your efforts here. Do you have a Mac or Windows computer? What's the voltage of your transformer? Also, is there a chime connected installed on your chime terminals?

Going over these steps might help:

  • Remove the wires at the back for your Nest Hello doorbell.
  • Check any damage on the wires.
  • Connect your Nest doorbell to a computer via mini USB cable. Observe if the ring light turns blue which means it has power.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT
