Battery cameras a waste of time & money?

I have had 4 indoor cameras for about 2 years. One was taped on a window to record my garden. It was fine but I couldn’t close my window so I bought a proper outdoor one with battery. 

it is an utter waste of £180. I am taking both (one on front door also records nothing unless a person is within about 10 feet) back for a refund but am furious at the wasted time and energy .

The battery versions definitely have limitations.

If they are plugged in with one of the optional power cables, they are "Live" all the time. We've had one for over 2 years, but if we unplug it, it does not do well at detecting events.

Thanks but the reason I bought battery was because I can’t get a cable there.
