Battery doorbell not charging

ZomB99

All of a sudden, my Nest doorbell, (battery operated), will not charge. There was no issue up to this point. Pulled it down to put it on charge like I do every other Monday, and it will not charge at all. I know it's still functional as the doorbell is not completely deaf, and when I place back on the doorbell dock, it turns on as it's supposed to. Now the battery is down to 4%, and I can't get it to charge at all. Have had less than 2 years. Is this a warranty situation?

The same thing happened to my doorbell. Purchased in November.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Doorbell battery is not charging. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Are you able to check the camera feed?
  • Did you receive any notification from the Google Home app?
  • Did you notice or experience any power outages recently?
  • What's the status LED light?
  • Did you get an error message?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Ensure the charging cable is securely connected to both the doorbell and the power adapter.
  • Try using the cable and adapter that came with the device.
  • Check if the power outlet is working by plugging in another device.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Melany, I'm having the same problem. I retrieved my doorbell, plugged it into the usual charging cable and nothing. I received no notice from the app. It just isnt' charging. I even plugged in another smart device to determine if it's the charging cable. That wasnt the issue. I plugged it into a different charging cable, still nothing. Up until now, it's been working fine. If Google isn't able to resurrect our doorbells, can we at least get a considerably large percentage off a new one.

Hi there!

I'm so sorry to hear that your Nest doorbell isn't charging. It can be really frustrating when your smart home devices don't work as expected.
Let's work together to find a solution.

  • Can you tell me more about what you've tried so far?
  • Could you describe the color of the LED light on the doorbell when you try to charge it?
  • In the meantime, can you please provide me with a screenshot of the next:

    • Open theGoogle Home app.
    • Tap "Favorites" or "Devices".
    • Select your camera from the list of devices.
    • Tap "Settings".
    • Under "Device features", tap "Battery".

This information can help narrow down the potential causes.

To completely isolate the battery issue please perform a factory reset on your device.

Here are the steps on How to perform the factory reset on the Nest Doorbell Battery.

  • Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paperclip or a thumbtack):
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you'll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you'll hear a confirmation tone.
  • Release the button.

We'll do our best to assist you and help get your doorbell back up and running.

Regards,

Brandon.
