Battery doorbell notifications

I just installed the new Nest battery doorbell and camera; all works well; one question: how do I keep the doorbell notification on my iPhone while switching off all other notifications ? I would have expected a separate function for this in the notification settings; i don’t want all notifications when people walk by but i do want a notification when somebody rings the bell. Any suggestions?

Try this

Home App -> Doorbell -> Gear icon (settings) -> Notifications -> your notifications under zones -> disable all notifications

I think your misunderstanding the OP. He/she only want to receive a doorbell button press(call) notification.(Ring has this feature and the notification also has a bell icon)  Unfortunately, the new NEST doorbell (battery) does not have a call button notification setting at this time.  I’m with you though…IT SHOULD.  For instance, I don’t want motion notifications while home unless someone pushes the button.

Agree. Thanks for the feedback. I now only managed to switch off all notifications except when someone rings the doorbell; but … i will only get a banner on my phone, nothing else, which isn’t very handy; I still would vote for a clear option in the settings where I would be able to activate only the doorbell notification on my phone incl sound

Ok, you stumped me…how did you turn off all notifications except the doorbell call button notification?  When disabling ‘all notifications’, do you still get a doorbell call notification?

What i did is in Settings, Notifications, switch on push notification and then switch off all the options below. The result is that you won’t get the alerts from the camera but you do get the alert (notification banner) when someone rings the bell.

The odd thing is that my Google Nest Hub does give a proper alarm incl sound when somebody rings the doorbell, so it should be possible on the phone also. It would be great if Google would add this option (/ this feature) for phones also.

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. I have some questions I’d like to ask you first:

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

thanks Brad

Yes, I’ve restarted the device

Yes, for now it ‘works’ but it is not ideal; I am still convinced that a feature / option could (/ should) be added that enables the battery bell notification on your phone incl sound alert, irrespective/ independent of the other notification settings.

Or maybe I miss something in the configuration and settings of the device.

Thanks for the support

Hi there Billy1948,

So sorry to hear about the issues that you're having with trying to figure out your doorbell and the notifications on your hub, I can understand that it can be confusing, but I'm happy to help.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to get doorbell notifications on your Nest Hub 2nd generation. Feedback like this helps us constantly improve our products and services by knowing what we are doing right and what we can work on. I'm happy to take this and send it to our team so that they can look into applying this in the future.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions, comments, or concerns.

Best regards,
Garrett DS
