Battery firmware hurting wired cameras

ewramsey

All my cameras behave as if they are battery powered and cut off streaming while I am watching them on my google nest hubs.  Mine are wired.  The hubs have trouble connecting until I bring up the cameras  on my Android.   The moment I do that, the hubs magically connect again on the hubs. Thus should be fixable.

@ewramsey

What battery firmware are you referring to? Neither the 1st gen nor the 2nd gen Google Nest camera has a battery. We have one of each and are able to stream them on our Nest Hubs without bringing up the Google Nest app or Google Home app on our iPhones, but I've seen a few posts also reporting their Nest Hubs won't stream unless they open the Google Home app, but no there seems to be no resolution posted.

Can you stream your cameras on the home.nest.com or home.google.com websites?

I think the doorbell camera firmware for the battery powered must have a line of code that had ended up in the  wired cameras.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out to Google Nest Community.

We're sorry to hear about this experience. Let's sort things out by answering these questions:

  • How far are your Google Nest Hub from your router and cameras?
  • Has this been working before on your Nest Hub display?
  • How often does it happen when you stream it to your Nest Hub display?

Let's try first to reboot your devices (Google Nest display and router) simply by unplugging them from the power source for at least a few minutes. Once plugged, try to stream your camera and let's see if this would  make any changes to its behavior.

By the way, thanks to @MplsCustomer for chiming in.

Keep me posted.

Best,
