@Michben

I'm not sure what problem you're having. All of the newer Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in Sept. 2021--including the battery doorbell--get installed only in the Google Home app, and do NOT work in the Google Nest app.

There is some kind of glitchy loop. I start in google home app, add device, doorbell, it tries to connect my phone to doorbell via bluetooth, cant, then flips to nest, and when add doorbell is selected it says needs to be installed via home...and round and round we go

@Michben

You could try deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app.

If that doesn't work, you could check this troubleshooting page:

If that doesn't help, you could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

Hi everyone,

@Michben, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. Aside from the steps shared above, please make sure that your Nest Doorbell has a blue light pulsing indicating that it's ready to connect. We would also recommend you to reset it to factory default.

To reset:

Give these steps a try:

  1. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of your Nest Doorbell.
    Tip: The reset pin on your Nest Doorbell (battery) is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paperclip or a thumbtack):
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your Nest Doorbell will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your Nest Doorbell will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.
  5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings Nest settings icon Remove device Confirm.

Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Emerson
