Best camera streaming on tv.

Good afternoon, I have a Sony x80k tv with google built in and when I tell it to show me front door I get this (see photo). I was told that you can stream your nest cameras on the tv but I’ve had no luck. My Wi-Fi is 500mbs and reaching these devices just fine. They are all on the same network as well. Please help.

I have the same issue. Streams just fine on Android phones. I get the same screen when I try to stream to a Hisense u8h and Hisense u7h. I've reset and restarted everything, everything is on the same network and in the same home. Everything is up to date.

Hello everyone

@WillNolder, thanks for bringing this up here in the Community. To confirm, was it working before? Were there any changes on your Wi-Fi network? Is the cast firmware version of your TV updated? Have you tried rebooting your Wi-Fi network?

@DoubleOhDork, we appreciate you giving all this information. I just want to make sure that we're on the same page, have you tried restarting your Nest Camera and Wifi router? If no, please do so and monitor its behavior.

Let us know your update here.

Best,

Emerson

@EmersonB thank you for following up. I work long, weird hours and haven't had an opportunity to try it although I should be able to this weekend. I'll update as soon as I'm able.

Hi folks,

@DoubleOhDork, we appreciate your update. Here's a link to "Stream your Nest Camera video feed to a TV using a speaker or display". However, if this won't help, you might want to contact your TV manufacturer.

Thanks for chiming in, Jenelyn and TerenceSquared.

Best,

Emerson

Mine still won't work. I've followed all of the troubleshooting tips and all of the suggestions. Starting to feel like these cameras aren't compatible with streaming to a TV, despite what is said.

Hello DoubleOhDork,

Thanks for getting back to us. To confirm, were you able to contact the manufacturer of your TV? If so, how did it go? Try asking them if your TV is compatible with the Nest Camera. In case you still have the box of your TV, you may check it if there's a badge of "Works with Nest". Let us know your update here.

Regards,

Emerson

I have had this happen for newer nest cameras - however older ones (compatible with nest app) show fine - my belief is that the newer hardware has been made so streaming can be done only on dedicated devices (hub, pixel)

I too have exact same problem with Nest Camera that won't stream to Google TV thathas Chromecast built in. Tried all suggestions and verified the checkpoints. But no success!

Hey Ragan,

Thanks for reaching out. To know more about this, I'd like to confirm, is this the first time that this has happened? Was there something changed from your Wi-Fi router settings? Kindly check if the cast firmware version of your TV is updated. For troubleshooting, try resetting your TV to factory default. You may also try checking for updates on your TV.

Best,

Emerson
