I had 2 outdoor Nest cams in operation with which I was happy. I had 24/7 recording for $60/year. I then added a Nest doorbell and called to inquire about adding it to my service. I was told "no problem" and was persuaded to take the new improved Nest Aware subscription which allowed me to add as many cameras as I desired for the same $60/year. I thought I was getting a great deal. Silly me. When reviewing video history I noticed there were long gaps in the recordings. I thought for sure I had a router problem. No so. Tech support informed me that the "new improved" subscription only provided event recording, not 24/7. I was not informed of this when I subscribed. But why? Well, to get 24/7 recording on this "improved plan" I must now pay $120/year, a 100% increase in what I was paying. I feel as if I am being held hostage by Nest, since I have made a significant investment in their hardware. I feel the rep was not being forthright and honest and omitted rather important facts.

For those who are interested, here is information on the new Nest Aware subscription plans. You can compare the plans to see which is right for you. For many folks, because it works with all your cameras in a home, it is a pretty good deal. However, check your situation to be sure.
