Bought a house with 3 outdoor nest cameras installed

Acileli

Hi and thanks in advance for any suggestions for helping me get these connected. My new house has 3 outdoor cameras installed on the 2nd floor below the roof in not so easy to reach locations. The instructions say to use qr code or setup codes to install, but I have neither. The prior homeowners were nice enough to leave me the original boxes and accessories, but I can't find qr codes or setup codes for any of them. I'm hoping I don't have to climb up and take the cameras down to get what I need

On the older Google Nest Outdoor Cameras, the QR code and the 6-character Setup Code are printed on the back or bottom of the camera. You will need one of them in order to reinstall them. Write down the Setup Codes once you obtain them, in case you need them again.

The previous homeowner needs to remove the cameras from their account in the Google Nest app. Then you will need to do a factory reset on each camera before reinstalling.

Hi and thanks for the instructions. I haven't had a chance to climb up to the roof to retrieve the qr or setup codes yet. I was hoping to avoid this and there would be a way to connect using the serial number on the box but I guess there's no way around it.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. With the 2nd Generation Google Nest Camera, there is a separate paper for the QR code, but if the previous owner still hasn't removed the device from the Google Home app, you still need to do a factory reset, which is on the actual device.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
Edmond
