@Ironmike

Since the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) always runs on battery power (even when wired) and is therefore normally in "Idle" mode, other customers in this forum report it doesn't always wake up to detect events.

We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for a year, plugged in with the optional power cable, and it works as well as our older Google Nest cameras at detecting events, because when it is plugged in it is "Live" all the time. But if we turn off the camera's circuit--so that the camera is running on battery power--we can walk right in front of the camera and it may not detect the event at all.

Thank You for responding. Its disappointing but I guess it what it is. I will try some other brand.
