So my other post had replies disabled so starting a new one.
I had the issue with Nest Outdoor Wired cameras (older generation) going black at night, even though night vision was off, after transferring them to the Google Home app (Public preview).
I had to transfer them back to the Nest app to make this stop happening.
I tried again a few days ago and the same thing still happened so I once again transferred it back to the Nest app.
Is anybody else still experiencing this issue?
Thanks.
Peter

That is great news. Thanks for the update. I will give it a try as well. Sadly Google never communicates on what they fixed and when. I don't understand why they treat customer like this. I keep asking for a somewhat specific list of what they fix with each software update but they don't do it.

If we turn off "Night vision" in the Google Nest app for our 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, the livestream will be VERY dark or even black, depending upon the lighting.
We haven't tried the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.

Sorry I should have been clearer. The cameras are in a lighted area and do not need night vision.

Ah. I see you've posted before on this (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Two-Cameras-Going-Dark-at-Sunset/m-p/61...), and another customer, @EmptyNester , a Gold Product Expert, was able to replicate it, so it is indeed a defect in the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app when "Night Vision" is turned off.

Funny thing is, is that I have two of the same model camera that I transferred as well and they don't have the problem.
Hopefully this bug gets fixed soon. I am really enjoying the new version of Google Home.

Yes, back in early April I escalated this up to someone in Google Nest. Like everything thing with them I have not heard back at all. Not even an acknowledgment that I sent it or that they were able to reproduce it. If they fix it then it will just start woking someday. But I''m not really focusing on it since for now I'm still staying in the nest app world as much as possible.

Anyone else having this issue? I am tempted to try and transfer them again as I really like the new home app and cameras on the web but am reluctant to waste time moving them back and forth. Thanks.

Hello, yes, I remember this issue. I have one of the older cams (outdoor) setup in the new app. I will set it to Nightvision OFF and see what happens tonight.... stand by for more....

Update: Well the answer is I'm not sure if it is fixed. Here is what happened: In the Google Home app I turned OFF the night vision and waited until it got dark. I looked at the image and it was very dark. I turned ON the nighvision and confirmed it was on. Then I went back and turned it OFF and the image was just as dark as before. I was expecting it would look brighter but it didn't. So I'm sorry to say I can't confirm it either way.
The good news is moving the camera over to Google Home is super easy and if it doesn't work for you then it is very easy to move back to the NEST app. So I would say give it try.

Thanks. I have tried moving back and forth a couple times. The funny thing is the exact same model of camera works for some and not for others. The ones that go black at dusk are in lighted areas too, which is strange.
I'll keep trying every once in a while. Have a great day!
Okay just looked and another one that was working fine is now doing the "going black" thing.

Re-transferred one of my cameras back yesterday and last night it worked fine. Will transfer a second one now and see how it works tonight. Trying not to get my hopes up as in the last they have worked fine initially and then eventually the problem would start.

So I have now transferred them all back over to Google Home and so far the issue with the cameras going dark has not happened. Maybe they tweaked something in one of the updates. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Just the first generation wired Nest Doorbell camera to transfer over once they allow it.

All still working fine so I guess it's fixed now.
Hopefully it will stay that way.
