I’ve seen a couple of posts referring to the fact that if you have a Nest device that you’ve left in the box for a couple of years after purchase they are all but a useless brick because the firmware becomes out of date and it can’t connect to the Google home app.
Surely this can’t be the case? I have a Nest wired indoor cam and a Nest Outdoor Battery Cam, both of which have sat in their box for 1 year+ after purchase. I now want to use them and they won’t connect.
I’ve tried all the usual resets, router restarts, reinstalling of the app. None of it works and really isn’t relevant as I can remove and add the cameras I’ve been using that (in the case of the outdoor cam) came from the same box.
No idea what I can do, got two very expensive Google bricks.

Hello WhatARob,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, what is the light status of your Nest Cameras? What is the battery percentage of your Nest Cam (battery)?
Here's our public article about "Restart or factory reset your Nest camera or doorbell". Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Emerson
